Schemes Development Manager - Signalling Scheme Development - IST-P/AST level qualification - Railway Signalling experience - managing staff - IRSE - based Birmingham - salary £45 - 50K

We are looking for a Schemes Development Manager who has experience of Signalling Scheme Development and is qualified to IST-P/AST level.

Candidates for the position of Schemes Development Manager (Signalling Development /IST-P/AST) must have a thorough knowledge of signalling principles and practices and Railway Signalling experience

Corporate Membership of the IRSE and an Honours Engineering Degree or equivalent is preferred

Experience of managing staff is essential

Schemes Development Manager (Signalling Development /IST-P/AST) candidates must be computer literate and capable of using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Lotus Notes and specific FP packages appropriate to engineering management

The role will entail ensuring the suitable development of signalling schemes to meet client supplied remits

Day to day duties of the Signalling Schemes Development Manager (IST-P/AST/Railway/Management) will include:

* Leading the Signalling Scheme Development Engineering team
* Undertaking the role of 'Head of Signalling Scheme Development'
* Undertaking the role of 'Contractor's Responsible Engineer - Signalling'
* Ensure the development of deliverable scheme proposals,
* Undertaking Signal Sighting, Signal Overrun Risk Assessments and Input to other design related Risk Assessments
* Ensuring the delivery of the complete package of development phase contract deliverables
* Liaising with the Commercial Management team to lead the production of appropriately detailed target price packages, budget estimate prices or level 'X' estimates
* Liaising with the Planning Manager to produce detailed resourcing plans and programmes
* Ensuring the collation and transmission of progress information from Scheme Development Engineers
* Contributing to the process of standards review
* Directing the processes necessary for competence management of the engineering workforce deployed for Signalling Scheme Development
* Identifying the training needs of the Signalling Scheme Development Engineering workforce

To undertake the above the Signalling Schemes Development Manager (IST-P/AST/Railway/Management) should have skills in leadership, planning and organisation and presentation skills
