Technical Trainer - Reeling/Pipelay Specialist - oil industry - proven ability to present training material – courses worldwide (4 days only) - part-time contract – rate £640 per day + expenses at cost + training fees

 We have an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Engineer or equivalent with a degree in mechanical engineering and, ideally, formal public speaking training to work ad hoc on a part time basis training others on our client’s Reeling Design Calculations course
 
Experience of working within the oil industry is essential as is experience of working on offshore installation and construction projects
 
This contract will suit subsea consultants, contractors or retired engineers who have good experience of working on pipeline construction projects  
 
Course locations could be anywhere in the world as per client demand
 
Candidates for the position of Technical Trainer (Reeling/Pipelay Specialist) should have a detailed understanding of reeling and pipelay processes including
 
  •  material and welding requirements
  • NDT, vessel capabilities and limitations
  • practicalities of pipeline installation
  • installation analysis
  •  Issues associated with high strain and engineering critical assessment.
 
You will need to be skilled in mentoring/training others and have a proven ability to present training material
 
Our client is looking to develop working relationships with subsea industry experts interested in teaching a short-duration ‘Installation calculations’ course on a contract basis. Commitment need only be to teach 4 courses per year (more if you wish)
 
Ideally from a construction contractor or design house background, we are looking for engineers with analytical minds and a detailed understanding of, and ability to do installation calculations.
 
The course is highly technical course and provides detailed knowledge of the subsea installation calculations required for all stages of a subsea development’s lifecycle from installation to abandonment.
 
Subject areas for the Reeling design calculations course include Reel-lay process; Reeling history and current market; Case-studies of failures and successes (looking at buckles, unwinding, twisting, coating damage etc); Key technical aspects (looking at strain concentration, material qualification, ovalisation, weld defects etc); Codes and patents relating to reeling; Reeling forces; Strain concentration effects;
Ovalisation and Materials and weld defects
 
As a technical trainer, you would be responsible for imparting knowledge and developing delegates’ skills in line with each course’s learning objectives.
 
You would typically teach 4 courses a year (more if desired) and course schedules are set 6-9 months in advance.
 
The Technical Trainer (Subsea/ Reeling design calculations) will be responsible for keeping up to date with the latest industry developments, imparting this knowledge in the classroom and attending pre and post course briefing and debriefing sessions (by conference call)
 
Our client will train you to present their course materials, provide course materials and manage course logistics
 
Rewards include pay per course for presenting: £2560 (4 day course) + travel time; expenses reimbursed at cost; training fees/associated travel costs
 
All candidates should have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK
