We are urgently looking for a buyer with experience in a purchasing or similar role and a basic working knowledge of contract law

A background in engineering or manufacturing is desirable

Candidates for the buyer's position will need to have strong negotiation skills and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of commercial issues and purchasing techniques

Computer literacy, including MS Word and Excel, is essential

Reporting to the Supply Chain Specialist, the main purpose of the role of Buyer (Contract Law) is to manage the parts acquisition process for bought-out products.

The role will include working with internal customers as well as suppliers, as part of a buying team, and taking responsibility for all related operational aspects, including vendor selection, negotiation and expediting

Day to day duties of the Buyer (Engineering/Manufacturing) will include:

* Working with the Project Team to establish planning milestones and objectives
* Ensuring that sourcing strategies are applied within the Project
* Promoting and coordinating supplier involvement in the design process
* Working with project plans and key milestones to ensure fluid implementation of procurement plans
* Managing supplier activity
* Risk Analysis - identifying and resolving supply issues
* Preparing and issuing bid packages
* Entering procurement data and order creation
* Expediting and communicating order status to project teams
* Developing and maintaining product cost measures
* Ensuring that goods and services represent best value for money and are governed by appropriate contractual terms
* Gaining an understanding of key suppliers' capability, including supplier visits
* Understanding general project requirements, such as schedule, budget, and special terms & conditions
* Acting as the main point of contact with the supplier
* Providing data for the procurement KPIs & departmental reviews
* Ensuring that materials bought are to budget

To undertake the above, candidates for the Buying role will need to be able to communicate effectively and have an aptitude for learning new techniques, methods and principles

You must be capable of prioritising, multi-tasking, working to agreed schedules and budgets and have a flexible approach to the workload
