Principal Electrical Engineer - defence company - supervisory/management experience - technical excellence and expertise across projects including quality assurance, health and safety, working to budgets and timescales - can be based in either Bristol, Leicester, Runcorn or Manchester - salary £40 - 50K

We are looking for a degree qualified Principal Electrical Engineer or someone who has equivalent or demonstrable relevant technical experience and chartered status (HNC minimum)

Candidates for the position of Principal Electrical Engineer (Defence) will be required to provide technical excellence and expertise across projects including quality assurance, health and safety, working to budgets and timescales.

You will need to have a strong theoretical & practical knowledge and be the kind of engineer who keeps up to date with new technologies and their application

You must be able to develop sound solutions without guidance, select cost effective solutions when assessing current technologies and lead idea selection and innovation

Day to day duties of the Principal Electrical Engineer (Defence) will include:

* Acting as Bid Manager or Technical Manager on designated projects
* Taking responsibility for specific work scope as delegated by the design manager
* Meeting objectives as designated.
* Leading a team of multi-discipline personnel
* Determining most appropriate solution when faced with conflicting information or not all the facts
* Allocating tasks, checking achievement against expectations and giving constructive feedback
* Ensuring value for money is always achieved
* Setting budget and analysing Profit and Loss performance
* Introducing improvements to existing levels of service
* Scheduling own projects/tasks
* Controlling resources
* Encouraging independent problem solving
* Creating opportunities to broaden others experience & encourage self development
* Ensuring that the team works consistently to systems & procedures

To undertake this vital leadership/managements role, the Principal Electrical Engineer (Defence) must be able to build good relationships with internal & external customers and facilitate open dialogue and communications

There are 4 different sites - Bristol, Leicester, near Runcorn and near Manchester and it depends where you are from as to where you will be located.

The selected candidate will undergo appropriate Security clearance
