Radiation Operations Manager - nuclear facility management - Nuclear and Radiological safety - processing radioactive waste - using radiation detection equipment - managing others -based Helensburgh - salary £40K

We are looking for a Radiation Operations Manager with experience of nuclear facility management and knowledge of Nuclear and Radiological safety

Candidates for the position of Radiation Operations Manager (Nuclear Facility Mgmt/Nuclear & Radiological Safety) should either be educated to HNC, be a time served craftsman in an engineering discipline or have an engineering degree or equivalent qualification

Knowledge of safe systems of work together with an understanding of processing radioactive waste and components and using radiation detection equipment and sources is essential as is experience of managing projects and of asset and maintenance management systems

Knowledge of HMNB Clyde, facilities systems and equipment, radioactive waste management operations and safety cases would be an asset but not essential

The position of Radiation Operations Manager will hold line management responsibility for a small team and you would be required to manage, operate and maintain Nuclear Radiation Waste Management Facilities

Day to day duties of the Radiation Operations Manager (Nuclear Facility Mgmt/Nuclear & Radiological Safety) will include:

* Management of the Nuclear Facilities resources (People, materials and equipment)
* Identifying, developing and implementing opportunities to continuously improve the Facility's capability, process and operation
* Compliance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Complying with and satisfying the standards and measures set and detailed within the Facility Management and Support Services document
* Complying with the principles and practices within the range of nuclear procedures and processes involved in operating the nuclear facilities.
* Acting as core member of the Nuclear Services Authorisation Group and as a nuclear procedure co-ordinator including the production of technical documentation and processes.
* Liaising and providing Nuclear, Radiological, technical and operational assistance, guidance, information and advice
* Liaising with the Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator with respect to Nuclear Activities compliance with site Authorisation Conditions

To undertake these tasks the Radiation Operations Manager (Nuclear Facility Mgmt/Nuclear & Radiological Safety) must be able to interpret legislative requirements and manage and deliver change

You will also need to have line management and decision making experience and good communication skills both verbal and written

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements
