Renewals Managers – knowledge of Track Renewal processes, operational railway and associated safety - strategic issues applicable to Renewals Contracts - based Doncaster, Mansfield or Crewe – permanent or contract till December 2013 - salary £47K

 We are looking for Renewals Managers with knowledge of Track Renewal processes, operational railway and associated safety
 
Candidates for the positions of Renewals Managers (Track Renewal/Railway/Safety) should have a HNC in an engineering discipline, experience in a management post and ideally be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.    
 
You should understand the need to introduce best practice and continuous improvement culture and have a clear vision of how to operate in such an environment.
 
The Renewals Managers (Track Renewal/Railway/Safety) should have a sound knowledge of strategic issues applicable to Renewals Contracts, such as company objectives, market conditions, competitor activity and customer needs, understand how business works and be able to make a full contribution to strategic debate in a multi-functional group.
 
The role of Renewals Manager (Track Renewal/Railway/Safety) will be to assist the Senior Renewals Manager in the management of all aspects of assigned works within the contract, contribute to development and take ownership of assigned works from Development Stage.
 
Day to day duties will include:
  • Assisting the Senior Renewals Manager in managing the Renewals teams to plan works to meet or better tendered margins.
  • Ensuring changes to scope and specification are managed and that Risk/Change Registers are robustly maintained.
  • Contributing to the development of works in line with Network Rail’s End to End process and ensuring T- KPIs are met.
  • Preparing methodologies, resource requirements, estimates and plans
  • Holding Whiteboard/Stage Gate meetings
  • Ensuring agreed performance and other KPIs are met.
  • Ensuring that all work activities are carried out in accordance with conditions of contract, health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Managing the preparation of all Work Package Plans, Task Briefs and other required documentation
  • Ensuring Health & Safety Files are completed.
  • Managing the welfare of assigned staff and participating with HR
  • Ensuring all staff is trained and competent to undertake their duties.
  • Monitoring the progress and costs of the works
  • Directing and monitoring the performance of assigned staff
  • Ensuring safe working practices
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and other non-conformances, preparing reports and making recommendations.
  • Reviewing completed works to ensure ‘Best Practice’ and ‘Lessons Learnt’ activities are captured, recorded and utilised
  • Ensuring all work is delivered to specification, time and within financial allowables.
  • Setting key success criteria for first line reports
 
To undertake this role, the Renewals Manager (Track Renewal/Railway/Safety) must be able to manage the change required to achieve preferred contractor status and adopt a structured and well thought out approach to team-building and managing change.
