Device Modelling Engineer - experience of RF semiconductor modelling - RF Test - microwave transistor operation - DC and microwave characterisation of devices & circuits - CAD package such as ADS or Microwave Office - based Newton Ayclife, County Durham - salary £28 - 50K or more (depending on experience) plus benefits

We are looking for a Device Modelling Engineer with a BEng/BSc in Electronic Engineering, Physics or related subject and experience of RF semiconductor modelling to provide device characterisation and compact modelling of microwave GaAs pHEMT device technology for accompany who are leaders in the design and manufacture of high-performance semiconductor components.

Candidates will need to have had experience with RF Test as well as knowledge of microwave transistor operation and DC and microwave characterisation of devices & circuits

Familiarity with a CAD package such as ADS or Microwave Office is a requirement as is the ability to manipulate S-parameters, knowledge of small-signal model extraction, AC circuit theory and numerical programming

Reporting to the Technology Manager, the Device Modelling Engineer's day to day duties will include:

* Providing compact models of GaAs pHEMT devices for process design kits
* Performing & directing RF characterisation
* Driving improvements in modelling techniques and test capability
* Supporting new process and product developments
* Characterisation of device performance: DC, pulsed I-V, noise, small & large-signal microwave performance
* Generation of small and large-signal device models
* Developing improved modelling techniques
* Interacting with designers to understand requirements
* Providing technical and user documentation
* Supporting development projects and operations staff

The Device Modelling Engineer (RF semiconductor modelling) should be responsive to team requirements and timescales and possess good communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal customers/users
